Criminally insane...
As you can obviously tell by the title, we finally figured out our podcast name.
Criminally insane.
It took us a while to come up with a name for the podcast because the name is one of the most important factors.
If the name isn't catchy, funny or relatable to people then your guaranteed to fail. The name is what gains people's attention. Therefore, we thought that criminally insane was fitting for both of our personalities (yes, we are mentally insane) and it is also humourous and catchy for people to remember.
When starting our podcast we had a few minor bumps in the road.
We had our podcasts planned out regarding duration, content, etc. However it was very difficult trying to acquire the podcast equipment as many students at UOW are creating podcasts... This therefore lead to us not being able to post a podcast for a very long time. So we created a plan for a few more podcasts.
Creating our podcast was so much fun, we were basically laughing at each other the whole time. However we also spoke about very important factors within our society, topics we hope the students at UOW will resonate with or perhaps just respect/appreciate such as social media expectations, and body confidence. It is a very touchy topic for some people so we have to be very cautious when it comes to talking about sensitive topics.
This blog talks about the 9 essential tips for addressing sensitive topics on your show/podcast. Tara and I think this is so important to keep in mind as it can be a real trigger for some people. With this in mind we will provide a description of each episode in the description box, allowing our viewers to see what we will be talking about and if it appeals to them.
We speak about a range of topics that we think will suit our target audience. Majority of topics is very relatable to the 'teenage life' from talking about nightlife,
relationships, growing up etc. We believe that these topics are most popular on other podcast shows so therefore we will talk about them from our own perspective as well. Young adults like to listen to things they relate to. It causes memorabilia as it triggers a past memory they may relate our story too. The topics we talk about are also recommended by UOW students as we have had a few replies to our tweets, or there have been suggestions from friends in the same target audience.
The main aim we are trying to achieve is giving students a well deserved break. It's for when they just got out of class and they want some brain chill time and not have to constantly think about their uni work. They can listen in have a laugh, or space out with us. It is the best distraction, whereas if you listen to music you can easily still think about all the work you have to do as your not really paying attention, but with a podcast you have to somewhat concentrate to actually be listening to the conversation. We believe this will be a major benefit to students health and wellbeing. We hope it will positively affect and contribute to their uni experience and make their days just that little bit better!!
Will you be listening to our podcast??
Let us know what you want to hear from the Criminally Insane!
XOXO, Charli & Tara
