Influencers.
Whether its fashion, food, cars, homes, travel, sports, or pretty much any interest you have. I am certain you have been influenced to buy a product in one of these categories. No?
Have a REAL good think about it.
Tik Tok? Instagram? Facebook? TV? The list is endless...
But how does their impact effect media and its audiences?
🤷♀️
Influencers impact media by claiming their audience. They gather information about who they want to impact and how they will do it. They then create their aesthetic, genre, and theme. They make sure they are posting consistently so they gain maximum engagement from their followers. For example, @SophaDopha is a social media influencer. She started on Tik Tok and grew to now having 993.3K, just under 100K!!! All for showing people clothes?! Brands give her free clothes, products and money to promote their products on Tik Tok and Instagram. She gets a discount code for all her followers to use to go buy the clothes she is wearing and then she gains profit from every person that uses her code.
What an awesome life right?
Sopha Dopha has now made a collab with the brand Beginning Boutique and got the amazing experience to design her own clothes for people across the world to wear.
I've always been jealous of Sopha Dopha and never wanted to follow her because I thought it was unfair how she is getting all this free stuff and amazing life for just wearing it on camera. However, I have to say, she is damn good at selling a product... I may have bought a dress from her influence....
But that's why she is so famous for what she does in Australia, she curates her content to fit all girls looking for a style. Her impact on media has transformed influencing into a lifestyle.

This following Tik Tok is Soph simply putting on a white crop baby tee, blue denim jeans, and some very snazzy Jordan sneakers....
From this simple video of her getting ready to go out for brunch, she got 2.5 MILLION VIEWS, 314.7K likes, and 13K saves. It seems almost stupid don't you think?
Sopha Dopha shows how influencing is literally becoming a lifestyle.
The concept really is, to 'fit in'.
Of course we all have different aesthetics and styles, but once you find your style you follow others who also have it and buy things that they might have that interests you. From here its a continuous loop, for any product or service.
Someone on TikTok showing how clean their car is after using a product, your car is dirty, and they have a discount code. BOOM.
That's how it works, thats influencing impact on media. They take over, without us even realising.
They create a need for an audience, and cater for it. They also make it entertaining or aesthetic to watch, so then it gains maximum consumer engagement. Using hashtags is also a major plus for those who want to get more views. Common hashtags used on Tik Tik are #fyp #foryoupage. Meaning the users are trying to get on peoples 'For You Pages.'
A For You Page (FYP) is an algorithmic page curated to the users personal interests. For example, if the user searches up a lot of videos to do with fashion, the app will then generate for their fyp to have more videos on fashion. Hence influencers using the hashtag #fashion in almost every video.
This is how they find their audiences, through the fyp and hashtags. It's all a big algorithmic game, and those who are smart, like Sopha Dopha, know how to beat the system.
That's all from me in this blog, see you in the next one, where I discuss influencers ownership over media!!
XOXO, Charli
