The Digital Camera Revolution: A Forgotten Legacy

Filling the VERY much needed gap.

My perspective:

The turn of the millenium marked a seismic shift in the way we capture and share moments. The world of photography changed when the revolutionary digital cameras rose, making it more accessible than ever. However, as we look back on the iconic era of the 2000s, there is an evident gap waiting to be filled. In this blog post, we will be diving into this untouched media niche and explore the captivating world of digital cameras.

If you read my last blog you probably got the impression that I quite frankly am obsessed with digital cameras. So what better way to create a digital artefact for something I'm passionate about.

The early 2000s witnessed a remarkable transformation in photography technology. Digital cameras became a cultural phenomenon, altering the way we documented our lives. Despite their immense impact, however, the digital camera revolution has faded into the background of the ever-evolving tech landscape. Through countless hours of scrolling on social media, I found a gap in this market.

Mapping the Audience

In my quest to fill the gap, it's essential to identify my audience, and find those who have a true love for not only photography but capturing moments through a low-res lense. Sounds a weird right? If you don't already own a digital camera, I can assure you, that you will be owning one at the end of these blogs...

Nostalgia Enthusiasts: Those who crave the thought of having that tiny square camera hanging off their wrists at a nightclub, those who have the excitement of capturing photos without the instant gratification of smartphones.

Photography Aficionados: Individuals who have a passion for photography and want to explore the roots of their craft by diving into the history of digital cameras.

Creatives and Artists: Painters, illustrators, and designers who draw inspiration from the aesthetics of the early digital camera aesthetic may find a wellspring of creative ideas.

2000s gurus: Those who have a genuine love for the exotic fashion and style the 2000s era is bringing back to our world.

These specific niches all have one thing in common, I will be exploiting that one thing and create a digital artefact from it. Instagram is one of the biggest social platforms in the world. I will be taking advantage of this platform and curating an Instagram acc emphasising the idea of the 2000s digital camera comeback. This account will solely focus on digital camera photos and forming a following of those who share the same love and appreciation of this era.

Stay up to date with this project by subscribing to my blogs!

Next blog will be good, don't miss it!

XOXO, Charli
