The Resurgence of 2000s Errors and the Retro Rebirth of Digital Cameras

The year is 2009 and your getting ready to go out with your gal pals, sipping on some cosmopolitans, trying to live out your Carrie Bradshaw life with your 'Sex and the City' besties, Charlotte, Samantha & Miranda.

Your gearing up with some Jay-Z and Kylie Minogue. There are some tough decisions to be made: Should you wear the latest Kate Moss TopShop Drop? Or Vogue Australia's newest disco pants? Is your waist belt wide enough? Or do you need a shorter crop top to match the low waisted jeans...

Whatever options you choose, you know that tonight is going to be captured not only the best way but the only way in this era. Using the digital camera that's hanging off your wrist, and you'll upload all 121 photos to facebook (where the like button has just been added) the next day.

For those of you who were also growing up in the 00s or early 10s, you know this camera was an essential for a night out. Something you had to cram in your fake Chanel 2.55 bag along with your Nokia flip phone and electric blue Nars eyeliner.

These cameras were our first attempts at selfies and mirror selfies (where the flash from the camera blocked out half the photo). These cameras captured every moment through their low-res glory.

Then some really smart guys with some really smart ideas came up with generations of technologically advanced 'smartphones'. These smartphones had sharper and smarter cameras than our 2000s digi cam ever could. It was the end of an era.

So we thought...

Over the past 12 months our beloved digi cams have made a comeback. This is a comeback like we have never seen before. The digi cameras have brought back the whole 2000s era. Yes, this is including the extremely oversized waist belts, the extreme micro mini skirts, and the extremely blue eyeliner. In my perspective the 2000s era, is everything in our era, but just 'extreme' in their own beautiful ways.

This era was a time where individuals expressed themselves in unimaginable and amazing ways. And so in this class I will be exploring The Resurgence of 2000s Errors and the Retro Rebirth of Digital Cameras. My media niche is the audience in which this era captured through digital cameras.
