Growing the digi on IG
Digital media are increasingly interwoven in our media and communication environments and make possible the production of new or changed contexts, modes of circulation, and forms of connection.
In this context, I'd like to share my perspective on my Instagram account, which delves into the resurgence of the 2000s era and the impact of digital cameras on contemporary media production. This endeavor presents its own set of challenges and rewards.
PERSPECTIVE
As content creators in this niche, we must continuously question and evaluate our perspectives. How might a newcomer to this digital realm perceive our posts? Our cultural backgrounds significantly influence our communication style and the content we choose to create. Recognizing and challenging these biases is crucial. In my Instagram account I will continue to include all cultures, religions, genders, and backgrounds.
PROBLEMATISING
Skillfully problematising our approach helps us ask the right questions. "What unique perspective does my Instagram account bring to the resurgence of the 2000s era and the digital camera revolution?" This technique assists in developing engaging content that addresses a specific need or gap within this media niche, such as exploring the nostalgia and impact on modern visual storytelling.
APPROACH
Determining the appropriate approach to content creation is vital. For my Instagram account, this entails not only choosing the right filters and editing techniques but also considering how to capture the essence of the 2000s era and the influence of digital cameras effectively. Staying adaptable yet structured in execution is key, aligning our methods with the account's goals. Developing production notes and refining recording, editing, and uploading processes have been crucial steps in this endeavor.
CONCEPTUALISING
Conceptualising content involves identifying the unique theme or idea that sets my Instagram account apart in this niche. While I strive for distinctiveness, I recognize the presence of other accounts focusing on the 2000s era and digital cameras. Carving out a truly unique space requires further effort and creativity. Through a lens of self-reflection, I've come to realize that being self-aware, reflexive, and adaptive are not just academic concepts but tangible skills every content creator in this evolving digital landscape should cultivate.
