As mentioned in my previous blog, when building a social media platform there is A LOT to undergo behind the scenes. I came to the conclusion that I need to venture off into a different platform to allow my Instagram account to grow, a platform that sends videos and photos to a persons page where everything is put in an algorithm from a persons interests, something like a for you page?

Mapping the Journey:

While my primary platform for this project is Instagram, a visual-centric platform, I'm intrigued by the potential to reach a broader and more dynamic audience. TikTok, with its short-form, engaging video content, is an enticing platform to consider. It's a hub of creativity, and crafting short, nostalgic video snippets from the 2000s could captivate a younger audience and reignite a sense of curiosity and appreciation for that era.

What Is The FYP aka For You Page? The FYP is the core of TikTok's content discovery experience! It serves as the platform's personalized homepage, tailored to align with your unique interests and preferences.

Narrowing and Exploring on TikTok:

Exploring TikTok entails understanding the preferences of its users and the trending formats. Narrowing down my content to fit within these preferences while maintaining the essence of the 2000s revolution is the challenge. Experimenting with various video formats like short clips with catchy music or themed challenges that resonate with the 2000s vibe can attract a whole new demographic, adding a fresh dimension to my project.

Engaging the TikTok Audience:

TikTok thrives on interaction and engagement. Engaging with the audience by encouraging them to share their 2000s memories or participate in creative challenges related to the era could create a sense of community. The goal is to bridge the generational gap, allowing users to relive or discover the magic of the 2000s.

Documenting the TikTok Journey:

As I embark on this exploration, taking notes on the platform's trending hashtags, and audience engagement strategies is crucial. These notes will guide my approach, ensuring that my content resonates authentically with the TikTok community.

In conclusion, venturing beyond Instagram and YouTube to TikTok opens up exciting opportunities to reach a wider audience. The 2000s digital artefact, which initially found its home on Instagram, can now find new life and connections on TikTok. The journey of exploring and adapting content to fit the unique culture of TikTok is as important as the artefact itself, allowing for a more profound and engaging narrative.
